Preventative GCMS maintenance is very important, but planned preventative maintenance (PM) doesn’t cover the cost if your equipment requires critical repair services. This is particularly good for lab managers who want to know what their entire repair budget for the year will be. A repair service contract that includes a mix of parts & labor with planned PM leads to far fewer surprise costs throughout the fiscal year.

Installation qualification ensures correct installation and configuration.

Installation Qualification, or IQ, is a well-documented validation process that ensures the proper conveyance, installation, and configuration of your GCMS instrumentation (based upon a manufacturer-approved list). This can include verifying location, power supplies, software installations, and more.


Operational qualification measures performance against OEM criteria.

Operational Qualification, or OQ, is also common when it comes to GCMS instrumentation quality assurance. This step involves testing the instrument to make sure it is performing as specified — the engineer is normally referencing proper operating ranges that have been documented by the OEM.
